KAB Legal
Introducing the firm
KAB Legal is a law firm led by Kathleen Adda, Esq.
Kathleen Adda, Esq. is an attorney admitted to both the Paris and the New York State Bars. She is also, incidentally, an agent in real estate transactions and a legal translator.
She studied in France as well as in the United States and graduated in: Business Law and Real Estate Law from Pantheon-Assas University; Financial Law from Sorbonne University; Common Law from Paris XII University; and, American Law (LL.M.) from Cornell Law School, an Ivy League University located in the State of New York.
After training at renowned French law firms, such as Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier and De Pardieu Brocas Maffei, she then worked for several years as an associate at EY Société d’avocats, a member law firm of the EY Global Network.
Building on her various academic and professional experiences, she later founded the law firm KAB Legal in order to be able to put all her skills to the benefit of her clients and thus represent them in the best way.
Service offerings
Attorney
KAB Legal provides legal counsel as well as representation in litigation.
It mainly handles matters related to:
– Real estate law (e.g., property, transactions, leases),
– Commercial law, and
– Corporate/M&A law.
Real estate
KAB Legal also acts as an agent in real
estate transactions.
In this context, the firm can assist its
clients throughout the entire process of
buying, selling, or renting any real estate
property (from researching or putting up
for sale/rent to drafting and signing the
contemplated contract, through showings
as well as marketing).
The benefits of using this service are that attorneys are bound by attorney-client privilege, that they are trained to provide legal advice, that they are qualified to draft the contemplated legal acts, and that they are able to defend their clients in the event of a dispute.
Translation
KAB Legal also provides legal translation services to both fellow attorneys and clients.
Indeed, not only is Kathleen Adda, Esq. an
attorney admitted to both the Paris and the
New York State Bars (which implies that
she masters both the French and the
Anglo-American legal terminology just as
well as the underlying legal concepts), but
she also has significant experience in
legal translation as she has had the
opportunity to translate a contract law
textbook as well as numerous legal
documents during her career.
Fees
The fees are set in agreement with the client, prior to any action being taken, and must be (except in case of emergency or impossibility) the subject of a written agreement which notably specifies the amount of, or the method of determining, the fees covering the foreseeable diligence as well as the various foreseen costs and disbursements.
They are determined based on legal criteria – such as the level of difficulty of the case, the foreseeable diligence, and the costs possibly incurred – and are generally charged on a flat-fee or hourly basis. Where appropriate, in addition, fees that are contingent on the result achieved or the service provided may also be provided for; this is notably the case in the context of a real estate transaction agency agreement. Besides, certain legal services with periodicity and regularity allow a subscription contract to be entered into (e.g., outsourced legal department).
